What are the basic qualifications to qualify for a credit card.

    In order to be approved for any credit card applications there are a few basic qualifications you need.  If you do not meet these minimum requirements then you will be automatically denied. 

  The first general qualification is you must be at least 18 years old.  If you are under 18 then you will automatically denied.  You cannot get a credit card in your own name until you are at least 18.  If you do not meet this qualification do not waste your time filling out any credit card applications.  It is possible for you to get your parents to get your put on one of their cards but you cannot legally get a credit card on your own.

  The second general qualification is you should have some sort of regular income.  As much as some people think that credit cards are free money they are not.  You have to be able to at least make the minimum payment each and every month before you will be approved for any credit card applications.  Credit card companies do not want to take unnecessary risks with people who do not have any way at all of paying their bills each month.

 Even if you do meet these two basic qualifications it does not mean you will get all your credit card applications approved.  You must still show the credit card companies that you are a good credit risk.  This is done by having a proven credit history.  If you have had a car loan or financed some furniture or something like that and made all your payments on time you should have no problems.  You should have a record at the credit bureaus.  If you do not have any type credit history then things can be more difficult.  If you are a student then you should fill out a student credit card application as they are easier to get but you still have to have some sort of monthly income.

  Remember these are only the two most basic of qualifications you need before filling out credit card applications.  There are many different reasons why you might be rejected for a credit card.  But if you do not have at least these two qualifications you application will not even be considered.
