Why do I have to activate my Discover Credit Card

  After you have filled out your Discover credit card applications and had them approved and had your credit cards sent to you.  You will need to activate it.  When you receive your Discover credit card there will be some forms that come with it and usually a sticker or something right on the card itself with a phone number saying something like this card needs to be activated.

  This is done as an extra security measure.  Almost all credit cards now days have this feature to ensure the card is going to be used by the right person.  It is just to make sure there wasn't a mistake in processing the credit card applications and the card was sent to the right person.  There is the chance of mail theft and any number of other things that could have happened.  It might seen like a pain right now but it is far better than if your Discover Credit Card was stolen or misplaced and they didn't have this feature.
